discovering the beauty of semi precious stones

i discovered quite quickly that i was most interested in working with semi precious stones rather than crystal or wooden beads. i quite like indian glass, but i think mostly because it reflects the natural colours of many of the semi precious stones that i have started working with.

whenever i am travelling or even wondering around my home town i keep an eye out for interesting finds – sometimes you find whole stores dedicated to bead and stone collections, but often they are small sections of interesting stores that have just a small collection.

on a trip to singapore i found one of my favourite stores, on arab street, that has a fantastic and ever changing collection of semi precious stones and natural beads. they also design and make their own creations, which are always a good source for inspiration.

there is so much beauty in the natural and varying colours
